Westmount Charter of Rights and Responsibilities
To ensure that Westmount students have a learning environment where every student receives the best possible education, we have the following rights and responsibilities.
I. Pride in Our Surroundings
We have the right to work in a clean and well-kept school. Therefore, I have the responsibility to help keep equipment, books and the school tidy and clean. I will respect and take care of other people’s, the school’s, and my own property.
II. Safety
We all have the right to feel safe and have our personal space and property respected. Therefore, I have the responsibility to contribute to a supportive and secure community free from harm and help create a safe environment. I belong here and I can help everyone else to feel welcome.
III. Respecting Individual Differences
Every person at Westmount School has the right to be treated with dignity and respect. Therefore, I am responsible for showing respect
and courtesy to all members of our school community.
IV. Work Habits
We all have the right to achieve our potential. Therefore, I am responsible for developing good work habits and not interfering with another’s right to learn. I can contribute to a positive learning atmosphere and support everyone’s right to learn. I will be prepared and do my best in all that I do.
V. Good Conduct
We have the right to feel proud of our school. Therefore, I am responsible for everything I do and I will display good conduct at all times. I will set a good example for others and treat all people with respect, courtesy and consideration.
The purpose of this charter is to create a school environment
which is focused on learning and supports the development
of caring, competent citizens.
