The accelerated reader program at Westmount School is a program that helps kids to improve their reading. Throughout the year students will take a test to determine their reading range. After the students read a book, they will take a different test on the computer. The questions on the test are multiple choice. After the students take a test, their mark/score is printed on the library’s printer. The kids get points for reading a certain amount of books and getting a certain amount of questions right. Once they have earned points they can trade in their points for prizes from Mrs. Bigras, the school’s librarian.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIRS
The Scholastic Book Fair is held 2 times every year in the Westmount library.
We usually sell around $5000 worth of books. Mrs.Bigras gets over $1000 to buy books for our library. There are usually about 12 parents who volunteer their time at the book fair.
